Massage and You

This page is dedicated to information about how you and your massage therapist can get the best possible results from your sessions together.
The right  questions and answers can greatly improve and maintain the results from your massage therapy session as well as your overall health and well being.

~Treatment vs Relaxation~
Many of those new to massage may not know the difference between the different types of massage.
**Treatment Massage is generally used in situations of injury or trauma.  This type of massage is more focused on muscles and soft tissue at or near the injury sight.  Several techniques may be used including long and short strokes, deeper pressure and vibration.  Treatment massage may result in some soreness for up to 2 days after the session and it is usually recommended to ice these areas to reduce inflammation and tenderness.
**Relaxation Massage is just as it sounds, relaxing.  This massage leaves the body, mind and spirit softened and calm. This type of massage also incudes several techniques including long strokes, compression and rocking the body.  No sorness is usually experienced after this type of massage and the effects can last for days.
So, when meeting with your Therapist, let them know what you would like to achieve from your time together.
Enjoy your next Massage!

Welcome to a brand New Year!

Each New Year welcomes new opportunities to become those people we aspire to be.  Creating and focusing on new habits and shedding those that may not be good for us or are no longer helpful or beneficial to us.

For those who have chosen to engage a more healthful and wellness oriented year, try adding massage therapy to your routine and enjoy the benefits that therapeutic touch has to offer.
Here are some of the reasons Massage Therapy can strengthen your plan;

~The act of relaxing is a tremendous boost to the body, giving it a chance to dis-engage from tension.  This tension is experienced by the body both mentally and physically and takes a great deal of effort and energy to maintain over longer periods of time.  Give your body and mind a rest.  Practice Deep Breathing, both during your massages and on a daily basis, and renew your mind, body and spirit by letting go.  Your Nervous system needs frequent, periodic breaks to continue to operate well.

~Your body experiences an increase of blood flow there by increasing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to all other parts of the body.  Also increased is the operations of the Lymphatic system, stimulating the Immune system and cleansing the body of wastes and toxic debris.

Every part of your being responds to massage and bodywork and can be beneficial addition to any health and wellness routine.

Lets get Chatty~
Communication is one of the most important aspects of any relationship. During your massage session, keep in mind, your therapist can not read your mind, nor feel everything your feeling. Make sure your therapist is aware how you are feeling~Mind, body and spirit. It enables a more fulfilling experience.

If music or sound is the difference between a good massage and a great massage, ask your therapist if they mind you bringing in your favorite CD.

Thank you for visiting.  Come back soon.
